Jewellery Repairs

Jewellery repair service

Bringing treasured items back to life is one of Ruth's biggest passions.

When you want jewellery repaired or restored, or an old item to be given a new lease of life, it can be hard to know where to go and who to trust.

You need someone with the skill to know what needs to be done and the sensitivity to understand the emotional value that items hold.

Ruth is passionate about jewellery repairs, resurrecting the gems that deserve a new lease of life and rekindling the story behind them.

The most common repairs will involve replacing missing stones or fixing broken clasps. Ruth can also resize rings and chains, restring pearls, clean jewellery and and bring a shine back to rhodium and gold plating, as well as many other restorations.

Every case starts with a conversation, so Ruth can understand the story behind your treasured item and what you hope the repair will achieve. Ruth will help you balance its monetary worth against its sentimental value, so you can decide how you want to proceed.

Once you have delivered it to her – by post or in person to her Birmingham studio – she will clearly explain the steps she’ll take to give it a new lease of life.

"Ruth, I cannot thank you enough for the beautiful work you have achieved in restoring my mother's ring. It meant a great deal for me to wear it on my wedding day. I shall enjoy wearing it to special occasions forevermore now."

A repair doesn’t necessarily mean making something perfect. Often people ask her to keep the scratches or worn patches that tell the story of the piece – and maybe the person – they love.

Don’t worry if you don’t know exactly what needs to be done or if you’ve previously been told your treasure can’t be fixed. Ruth loves the challenge of puzzling over how to mend a broken part or give a piece a new lease of life.

Every repair will be very individual which is why you won’t find a price list on the site. If you send over a photo, an estimated cost may be given, but this can only be confirmed once each piece is inspected closely.

If you have loved jewellery or family treasures lying broken in a box, Ruth will be happy to advise on how to bring them back to life. Please get in touch to find out more.
